Registration is easier when you know what you are registering, who owns it, and what the business must do after incorporation. Do not treat the certificate as the whole setup process.
Choose the right structure
- A business name can work for a small sole-proprietor operation, but it does not create a separate company.
- A private limited company is often used where founders want a separate legal entity, shareholders, directors, and clearer ownership records.
- Partnerships, LLPs, NGOs, societies, and foreign companies have different obligations and should be chosen deliberately.
Prepare before applying
- Agree on ownership percentages, directors, business activity, registered office, and contact details.
- Prepare preferred names and avoid names that are too similar to existing entities or protected terms.
- Confirm identity documents, beneficial ownership details, and signatures needed for the specific application type.
After registration
A registered company may still need tax setup, county permits, sector licences, employer registrations, bank onboarding, accounting records, contracts, invoices, and data protection review depending on its operations.
